CUP06 SC Field Survey: a field trip to the Yanshan Mountain in the suburb of Beijing January 3, 2008

CUP06 Student Chapter of AAPG, Beijing, P.R. China, had given her proposal of a summer field trip to the Yanshan Mountain in the suburb of Beijing in June. The survey planned to be carried out in August had been delayed to October for some unexpected reason.

The field survey was planed carefully. First, Yanshan Mountain is not far away, just about 30Km from our university. So we can make a round trip just in one day. Second, the survey was supported by our department. And professor Tong, a responsible teacher with much teaching experience in Yanshan Mountain area, guided us. In a word, the field survey received a great success.

3D Modelling - Building a 3D Static Geologic Model (ITM SC)

On December 1st, 2007, Yusak Setiawan (Hess - Kuala Lumpur) gave talks in Institute of Technology, Medan (ITM) in North Sumatra (Indonesia). The event was organized by the AAPG Student Chapter of ITM. The title of the talks are: 1) 3D modeling-building a 3D static geologic model and 2) Introduction to Petroleum industry

Yusak Setiawan is serving AAPG as a member of the House of Delegates and as AAPG Visiting Geoscientist. In 2003 he was the top AAPG member recruiter, as he managed to recruit 48 members in a year. For his effort AAPG sponsor his trip to attend the AAPG International Conference in Barcelona, Spain.

AAPG would like to thank Yusak Setiawan for giving his time and effort to share his knowledge and experience to AAPG Student Chapter in ITM. Thumbs up for ITM Student Chapter for their initiative and proactive approach to get external speaker to come. We acknowledge HESS Malaysia for sponsoring the program.
